What are you doing in your life Nick?
Trying to shoot as much film as I can.
Can you give us a movie and a song you like?
Movie: Blue Velvet (1986)
Song: Jean Michel Jarre – Oxygène, part 2
You shoot these incredibly clean photographs with a Pentax 6×7, a huge camera from the late 60’s.
Why this choice? Isn’t it a bit arduous to deal with a camera that big (2,3 kg) ?
It’s all part of the challenge really, but well worth it in the end. I love shooting with this camera. The look, feel and shutter noise can’t be beat. Plus it’s a great talking piece. Recently I had a middle aged man come up to me and ask “Hey is that the Pentax 67? I had one of them back in the day!” It was great to see his eyes filled with nostalgia and how happy it made him.
When do you take pictures and how do you choose where to go?
I take pictures mainly on the weekend or when I am on holidays. I’m constantly exploring new places and I bring my camera along to capture the adventure. Platforms like Tumblr and Instagram provide endless amounts of inspiration and new locations to visit.
Do you have creative plans for the future?
I’m looking forward to creating my first photo book.
What are you going to do after having answered to this final question?
Taking a well deserved nap.
Merci Nick !
